ZCorum, a provider of managed broadband services and software, announced today that they will be introducing what they are calling a first-of-its-kind DSL diagnostic application at the 2012 OPASTCO Winter Convention, January 14th through 18th in Lake Buena Vista, FL. OPASTCO, which is the Organization for the Promotion and Advancement of Small Telecommunications Companies, represents over 400 rural local exchange carriers (LECs) across the country.
As part of their Winter Convention, OPASTCO hosts an Innovation Showcase where vendors can display new products and services introduced in the past year. ZCorum will be promoting a new toolset for DSL providers that will leverage the companys popular TruVizion diagnostics software already used by cable providers, coupled with the TR-069 standard for DSL.
Were excited to expand TruVizion into the DSL market, said Arthur Skinner, Vice President of Sales at ZCorum, who will be showing off the new capabilities at OPASTCO. Weve had great success with TruVizion in the cable modem market. Adding the DSL component will give telcos the tools and diagnostic capabilities they need to reduce operational and support costs, as well as to significantly improve the level of service to customers.
Scott Helms, Vice President of Technology at ZCorum, expects to see a lot of interest, noting that telcos have traditionally been at a disadvantage to their cable provider counterparts in the area of diagnostics. Telcos definitely have some challenges when it comes to troubleshooting subscriber and plant-wide issues. We have some customers that provide both cable modem service and DSL. They love TruVizion, and are really excited that theyll now have it available for the DSL side of the house.
